B2B Logistic Startup “Dunzo for Business” Joins in ONDC

The B2B logistics division of Dunzo which is backed by Reliance Retail called Dunzo for Business (D4B) has teamed up with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to offer last-mile delivery services to networked companies.

The last-mile logistics company Grab.in, which is owned by Reliance Retail, linked its platform with ONDC on August 1. This marked Reliance’s official entrance into the highly anticipated network.

Dalvir Suri, the cofounder of Dunzo and head of D4B, said, “Starting our journey with key metros, we will extend our services to more cities and become the backbone for intra-city deliveries in the Indian eCommerce ecosystem.”

Over 20,000 merchants are connected to clients through D4B’s fleet of over 75,000 delivery partners.

According to a statement from T Koshy, CEO of ONDC, “This partnership will expedite our efforts to make last-mile logistics available to a bigger audience of consumers and sellers across India.”

By the end of August, the network hopes to launch in 100 locations. It is now onboarding merchants, logistics companies, and payment partners. By putting unorganized businesses online, ONDC hopes to challenge the dominance of eCommerce juggernauts like Amazon India and Walmart-owned Flipkart.

As per a senior executive of ONDC, smaller players like the live video shopping and selling software Kiko Live have also connected with ONDC.

According to Kiko Live, there are 10,000 registered sellers in several categories, including electronics, groceries, stationery, and cosmetics. The business stated that it intends to use the platform by September.

As per co-founder Alok Chawla, Kiko Live’s connection with ONDC will make sellers listed on the app discoverable throughout the network. Venture Catalysts and angel investors like Nitish Mittersain, the founder of Nazara Technologies, support the business.

Kiko Live began as an influencer-driven video and live commerce network. It is now utilizing its live commerce technology in a business-to-business model where it onboards local retailers to the app and assists them in conducting video chats and live streaming with customers as well as taking orders. Additionally, it provides options for payments and deliveries.

“Ecommerce is expanding quickly in India. But just a small number of big, coordinated sellers have so far reaped the benefits. Small retailers and sellers have often expressed their dissatisfaction with the unfairness of online marketplaces, which has been hurting their bottom line. The ONDC is a fantastic tool to help the smallest sellers build their businesses and become competitive players in the online marketplace, according to Chawla.
